Water and Wastewater

Water

CSWorks provides water and wastewater processing organizations with powerful tools to minimize downtime, reduce costs of operation, minimize applications development and bridge the gap between IT, management information systems and water facilities. Monitor, control and report on water treatment and pumping stations operation from a single location connecting to remote sites using secure and reliable networking technologies and recording operator actions, system events and alarms. Unify multiple control rooms into a single system connected via Internet and accessible through ordinary web browsers.

Open architecture

CSWorks is an open architecture HMI/SCADA framework that enables application engineers to mix-and-match products from different vendors to develop solutions that are more flexible and powerful than those restricted to a single vendor's product offering. Open standards such as OPC, SQL, WCF (Windows Communication Foundation), SOAP, HTTP protect your automation investment from manufacturers' proprietary technology obsolescence that can come with changes in the technical requirements or finances. Read more about CSWorks architecture in the Architecture Basics section.

Data source access

Connect directly to dozens of popular existing PLCs, RTUs, DCSs and other automation equipment for fast communications using open-standard OPC (OLE for Process Control) servers and SQL databases. Any data available with proper security through your IT network may be displayed or modified within the CSWorks software suite via OPC or SQL open database connectivity. System administrators can configure redundant CSWorks servers for non-stop mission critical HMI, SCADA and control applications.

Manage multiple facilities from remote locations

CSWorks-powered solutions enable the monitoring and control of multiple locations with one software system. Not only can you monitor and access individual locations such as reservoirs and pumping stations, but you can control entire water pipeline networks as well. Make operators and managers more efficient with flexible access to data wherever they may be. CSWorks delivers operator and supervisory screens across intranets or the Internet with full global network security. Powerful development environment

CSWorks integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio design environment. Take advantage of the development tool with a proven track record to create user applications with eye-catching graphics, complex animations and extremely rich functionality. No need to learn yet another scripting language or proprietary object model, just use C# or VB.NET to create CSWorks applications running on Microsoft Silverlight platform. Watch the educational video about creating your first CSWorks application.

Secure communications

Designed with security in mind, CSWorks operates on top of a number of standard, secure communication protocols that guarantee data privacy and integrity. All client-server interaction can be tunneled through SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) - the de-facto standard for the protection of online transmission of sensitive information. So whether users are logged onto a local workstation or dialing in from home, the system is secure.

Cross-platform and cross-browser thin client

CSWorks-powered client applications run on Windows and Mac platforms using Microsoft Silverlight as runtime engine. Increase ROI, reduce client software maintenance cost by using zero-administration web client. With CSWorks web client, users no longer need to install proprietary HMI software, licenses and individual HMI screens on each operator station. Files and licensing are server-based for trouble-free maintenance and deployment.

Highly customizable Alarming subsystem

CSWorks alarming can be configured to scale out and to provide redundancy. Alarm history can be saved in the database of your choice, giving you a notable degree of flexibility to incorporate analysis tools of your choice. Operators work with Alarm Summary panels that can be configured individually according to user preference. When acknowledging an alarm, operators can enter a comment explaining the alarm for inclusion as part of the permanent record.

Scalable data archiving to secure standard databases

CSWorks saves historical data to industry standard databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, mySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL. Using such standard corporate databases provides long-term maintenance, reporting and retrieval throughout the retention period.

Live and historical data trends

Water treatment data collected from any data source at any facility can be quickly and easily visualized in CSWorks Trend panel. Information from different data sources can be merged and viewed on a single chart. Operators can easily export chart data to a spreadsheet file (watch the educational video).
